At Ginger Paws Doodles we believe all dogs should be raised in a home surrounded by love and attention!
As we grow our breeding program, we are unable to keep all of the dogs, in our home as pets, so we have decided to begin a Guardian Home Program!
When you become a Guardian family, you receive our "pick of the litter" puppy to raise and love in your own home forever. Ginger Paws Doodles retains the breeding rights for a designated time, that is established with each family.
There is an initial investment in our Guardian Home Program. We don't give our puppies away. We ask for a deposit of $500. Ginger Paws Doodles takes care of any expenses related to breeding. The Guardian family is responsible for regular veterinary and wellness care which includes vaccines, high quality dog food, heart-worm and tick prevention monthly, regular exercise and socialization, training, grooming and most important providing a loving, positive environment.
When you receive a Guardian dog, you are getting the very best. We keep only puppies that meet our standards with the most important qualities being health and temperament. Another huge advantage is that your puppy will be fully health tested before the age of one at our expense. Your dog will be spayed at our expense when their breeding career is completed.
Our Guardian families get to enjoy the excitement of being a part of our breeding program while helping heal hearts & change lives with the power of a dog
As a Guardian home, you will need to live within 150 miles of Yucaipa, California, have a fenced yard and a safe and secure environment for the Guardian puppy. You need to own your own home, not have a schedule that requires you to be away from your Guardian dog for long, extended periods of time on a regular basis. Guardian dogs must be indoor dogs and not left outside unattended. The Guardian family should have reliable transportation and a willingness to work with us to get the Guardian dog here a few times a year. Since we do require you to live within a 2 hour drive of our home, we extend the offer for the dog to stay at our home when you go on vacation. This helps us, the guardian dog, and our dogs, to be familiar with one another when it comes time to breed or whelp a litter.
Can anyone become a guardian home?
No, we maintain very high standards as to who can own our dogs and how they are treated and cared for. If the guardian is not someone we know well, we have an extensive interview process. All guardians sign a contract that outlines exactly what the terms of the agreement are.
How much time will my guardian dog spend away from home?
It depends on several factors. We would have her for around a week when she is first bred, then we would have her for about 8 weeks when she has the puppies. Most mother dogs have 2-4 litters with us. Potential guardians must be willing to agree to leave all decisions regarding breeding with us. It can be 18 months – 2+ years before some of the future mom’s have their first litter. We understand it is hard to be away from your dog for a few weeks but we love on them and take excellent care of them while they are with us. If you decide you no longer want to be part of the breeding program, the dog must be returned to us.
What costs are associated with being a guardian?
You are responsible for daily care and normal costs associated with owning a dog: food, vitamins, grooming, basic vet bills. We pay all costs related to reproduction: health testing, special supplements and reproductive vet bills.
If you are interested, please fill out the puppy application. We will have extensive interview with potential guardian family homes and you must be willing to let us visit your home. Interviews do not guarantee a placement.
